Meeting Info:

Getting going with PSM and Informix 12 – Thomas Beebe
For years Informix users who backup to local disks have been suck with the limits of ontape or the tediousness and slowness of the Informix TSM system. Introduced in version 12 there is the band new PSM system. Tom will cover the basics of getting started using it and may have you rethinking your backup strategies.

Also, join our HCL Informix professionals as they present the details on using the new Smart Triggers and share the new technologies found in Informix 12.10.xC10.

Smart Triggers were introduced in Informix 12.10.xC9 to provide a better mechanism than the standard insert, update, and delete SQL triggers to perform a set of specific actions when a specified type of database activity occurs. A smart trigger can be configured to start a fraud detection application, for example, when a suspicious financial transaction is committed. Informix Smart trigger support includes server side support as well as Java APIs which can be used to configure and develop these types of applications. This session will cover some smart trigger use cases, plus info on how to define and configure these events in the Informix server and how to develop Java applications to respond to these events

Informix 12.10.xC10 was released in November 2017, and includes several new and interesting features. Some of these features are the ability to perform backups to the Amazon and IBM SoftLayer clouds, enhanced compression, a new CLIENT_LABEL mechanism to identify specific client sessions in the running server, and the ability to quickly swap primary and mirror chunks in order to upgrade your storage while the server is running. We’ll also discuss the 2018 Informix roadmap to get an idea of features we have planned.
